Hidden fees are charges some processors attempt to sneak by unsuspecting prospective Merchants to make their rates appear to be lower than those of a competitor when they really aren't.

All credit card deals include standard charges like discount fees, per item fees, and statement fees. Here are some examples of extra contrived fees many credit card processor will try to get away with if you're not looking:

Remember, almost always these fees are meaningless; they're just there to jack up a low discount rate quote so the Merchant thinks one deal is cheaper than another:

• Additional processing fees
• Merchant Club fees
• Annual membership fees
• Dues and assessments
• Terminal fees
• Help desk fees
• Excessive non-qualified surcharges
• Security compliance fees
• Excessive prices for supplies
• No free decals, templates, imprinter plates, and so on
• Watts fees or extra per item fees
