The Hypercom T7Plus credit card machine improves many of the shortcomings of it’s predecessors in the Hypercom family.
It’s thermal printer is eons ahead of the flimsy friction or thermal mechanisms of the T7P and even the next generation huge footprinted T77. More importantly, it’s “SureLoad” (TM) paper loading mechanism makes changing rolls a snap, thus eliminating one of the other major shortcomings of the old T7P and T77 lines.
Otherwise, The T7Plus shares many of the major positives of previous offerings by Hypercom. It’s 35 key keyboard is well organized and well thought out, thus making the T7Plus extremely easy to learn and operate. Plus, the terminal function of this machine is lightning fast. It also has ports for external pin pad and check reader.
On the downside, in the opinion of this reviewer (and many merchants for whom we have installed this model), the T7Plus has a decidedly flimsy, plasticy toylike feel and appearance. Not that the Hypercom T7Plus is necessarily more trouble-prone or less dependable than any other comparable model. But still, we feel it’s hard to imagine this machine standing up for years and years in a busy demanding sales environment as many older machines have proven capable of.
In summary, the Hypercom T7Plus is probably a good choice for merchants with medium usage demand. Having been around for several years now, there are many good buys on refurbished models which buyers should also find attractive. But if you are a busy restaurant or retail location in which your credit card terminal will take a beating, there are probably better choices for you in our opinion.
